Lot 495: A Victorian Carved Mahogany Nursing Chair
A Victorian nursing chair of typical low-seated form, featuring a carved mahogany frame with a polished finish. The chair is designed with a shaped balloon-style back and waisted side supports. It is upholstered in a cream-coloured floral damask fabric, with the edges finished by a continuous line of brass-toned metal nailhead studs. The construction consists of a carved timber frame with a deep, padded back and seat. An orange auction sticker reading 495 2 is adhered to the upper left side of the frame. No maker’s marks are visible.
Condition report:
The wooden frame is in good structural condition with minor surface wear consistent with age. The upholstery shows visible signs of use, including light staining and discoloration to the seat area and sections of the backrest.
