Lot 39: An Assortment of Miniature Ceramic and Glass Vases and Vessels
A collection of miscellaneous decorative miniature vessels, primarily comprising ceramic bud vases, bottles, and small jugs alongside several glass pieces. The ceramic portion includes various porcelain miniatures, notably a vase decorated with underglaze blue bands and polychrome floral motifs, a small ewer featuring iron-red cloud or floral patterns, and several pieces with blue and white floral or geometric designs in the oriental style. Also present are monochrome glazed pieces, including a globular vase in deep cobalt blue with a gilded rim, a bulbous vessel with a dark green glaze, and a black-glazed vessel in the form of a bird, possibly a water dropper or small teapot. The glassware consists of clear glass items, including a cylindrical jar, a wide-mouthed vessel, and a tall pitcher or decanter featuring a cranberry-coloured handle and spout. The items exhibit various decorative techniques such as underglaze blue painting, overglaze enamelling, and solid monochrome glazing. No maker’s marks or factory stamps are visible on the exterior of the items. Several pieces bear orange adhesive labels and one small white vase has a tag numbered 15.
Condition report:
The collection generally appears to be in good condition. No significant chips, cracks, or visible repairs are immediately apparent. There is minor surface wear and adhesive residue from price labels consistent with age and previous handling.
