A pair of topographical watercolours on paper. The first work depicts a grand neoclassical building, possibly an English university college or country house, with figures in the foreground. The second work depicts an Eastern architectural scene featuring a riverside temple or pagoda and palm trees. Both works are executed in a light, sketchy style with transparent watercolour washes and fine pen line work. The Eastern scene is signed Eaton in the lower right corner. They are presented in matching gilt-finished wood frames with light tan mounts.
Condition report:
Both watercolours exhibit age-related toning and visible foxing, which is particularly prominent in the sky area of the Eastern scene. The mounts show some discoloration and minor foxing. The frames have light surface wear and minor scuffing to the gilt finish.
