Lot 251: Two Items of Wheel-Engraved and Cut Crystal with Silver-Plated Mounts

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

This lot comprises two pieces of decorative glassware with metal mounts. The first item is a footed vase or sweetmeat dish featuring a flared, scalloped rim. The clear glass body is decorated with wheel-engraved floral motifs and scrolling foliage in the rock crystal style. It is mounted on a circular, stepped metal pedestal base which is struck with three vertical marks: an uppercase B in a shield-shaped punch with a lobed top, followed by an uppercase A and an uppercase S in rectangular punches. These marks are consistent with British silver-plated (EPNS) wares, typically from the Birmingham area. The second item is a globular lead crystal vessel, likely a scent bottle or small condiment shaker, featuring deep diamond-point geometric cutting. It is fitted with a metal collar and a domed cap topped with a small turned finial.

Condition report:

Both glass components appear to be in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or clouding. The metal pedestal base of the vase and the metal cap of the scent bottle are heavily tarnished and exhibit significant surface oxidation.
