Lot 193: TWO GRADUATED BLUE AND WHITE TRANSFERWARE CERAMIC JUGS

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

Two ceramic jugs of graduated sizes, likely constructed from earthenware or ironstone. Each vessel is designed with a bulbous body, a footed base, and a flared, scalloped rim, complemented by a moulded C-scroll handle. The jugs are decorated with blue underglaze transfer-printed landscapes on a white ground. The larger pitcher displays a topographical scene featuring classical buildings and mature trees. The smaller pitcher features a pastoral landscape depicting birds and foliage. The style and decorative technique are characteristic of 19th-century British potteries. No manufacturer marks or backstamps are visible from the exterior. Both pieces bear numerical inventory stickers, including an orange sticker with the number 193 on the larger jug and an orange sticker with the number 8 on the smaller jug.

Condition report:

Both items appear to be in good overall condition. There is minor surface wear and small areas of light staining consistent with the age and nature of the material. No significant chips, cracks, or visible repairs are present. Prospective buyers are advised that fine crazing may be present upon close inspection.
