Lot 149: Two Vintage Terrestrial Tin Globes in the Style of Replogle
Two vintage terrestrial globes, likely of mid-20th-century manufacture and resembling the Replogle World Horizon series. Each globe is constructed from two lithographed tin hemispheres joined at the equator with a visible seam. One globe features light blue oceans, depicting the Atlantic region including Greenland and the African continent, and is set within a light-coloured semi-meridian mount. The second globe displays dark teal oceans, showing the Pacific region including the Hawaiian Islands and Alaska, and is set within a black plastic semi-meridian mount. A base visible beneath one globe is decorated with a multi-coloured array of international flags. No manufacturer’s marks are clearly discernible on the surfaces shown.
Condition report:
Both globes show signs of age-consistent wear, including surface abrasions, minor paint loss, and light scratching to the lithographed finishes. The equatorial seams are prominent. Adhesive price tags are present on the mounts.
