Lot 146: A Vintage Brass Fireplace Companion Set with Pineapple Style Finials
A vintage brass fireside companion set of traditional design. The set consists of a central stand and four matching tools. The stand features a circular weighted base with a central vertical column terminating in a textured pineapple style finial. The crossbar supports four hanging tools: a shovel with a pressed blade, a pair of fire tongs, a hearth brush with black bristles, and a fire poker. Each tool is topped with a matching turned brass handle and a pineapple style finial. The construction appears to be a combination of cast brass components and turned rods. No maker marks or manufacturer stamps are visible on the object. A white rectangular adhesive tag is present on the base, bearing the handwritten number 12.
Condition report:
The set is in fair vintage condition, showing signs of use and age. There is visible surface tarnish, oxidation, and light pitting across the brass surfaces. The bristles of the hearth brush show moderate wear and splaying.
