A pair of hand-held scoops, each featuring a body formed from sheet brass with a rounded base and flared sides. The brass scoops are attached to short brass collars using visible rivets; the upper scoop in the image is secured with two rivets, and the lower scoop with three. Each is fitted with a dark, turned wooden handle in a traditional beehive or baluster pattern. These scoops are characteristic of late 19th or early 20th-century domestic hardware, commonly used for handling coal and cinders at the hearth or for measuring dry goods such as grain, flour, or sugar. There are no visible maker marks, stamps, or hallmarks on either the metal or wood components.
Condition report:
Both items are in good antique condition. The brass retains a bright, polished finish with scattered light surface scratches, minor pitting, and small areas of tarnish throughout, consistent with age and domestic use. The wooden handles are secure and intact, showing minor surface wear and small areas of thinning to the dark finish. Both handles currently have small orange adhesive price labels attached.
