Lot 639: An 18ct Gold and Platinum Five-Stone Graduated Diamond Ring
A vintage five-stone graduated diamond ring featuring a series of five round-cut diamonds. The stones are grain-set into a platinum top with milgrain-engraved borders, arranged with the largest diamond at the centre flanked by two smaller pairs. The stones are set into an 18ct yellow gold shank. The interior of the shank is stamped with the characters 18CT&PT, indicating the metal purity. The ring is presented in its original period retailer case from Russells Ltd., with the interior silk lid printed: Estd. 1745. / Russells, Ltd. / 18, Church St. Liverpool. / 10, Exchange St. Manchester.
Condition report:
The ring is in good vintage condition. There is light surface wear and minor scratches to the gold shank consistent with age and use. The diamonds appear secure in their settings. The vintage presentation box shows some external wear and minor fraying to the interior silk, but remains functional with a working catch.
