A glazed stoneware figure depicting a bearded male figure, possibly the Buddhist monk Bodhidharma, standing atop a base of stylized clouds. The figure is shown in traditional flowing robes with elongated earlobes and a prominent beard. The piece features a combination of glazes, including a dark aubergine-coloured glaze on the skin and hair, complemented by turquoise and ochre glazes on the garments. This style of modelling and glazing is consistent with export ceramics from the Shiwan kilns in Guangdong province. No factory marks or signatures are visible. An orange adhesive sticker with the number 19 is present on the chest.
Condition report:
The item is in poor condition with significant damage. Several large fragments, including sections of the arms and robes, are detached from the main body. Clear break lines are visible on the right shoulder and hands. The surface is soiled and dusty.
