Lot 6: A Collection of Vintage Brass and Cast Iron Metalware Including Kettles, Trivets, and Kitchen Scales
An assortment of vintage metalware comprising decorative and functional items, primarily constructed from polished and patinated brass, alongside examples in cast iron. The collection features a polished brass tea kettle of squat circular form with a domed lid, finial, and a curved handle support with a turned wooden grip. Also included is a tall brass coffee pot or ewer set on a circular pedestal foot, featuring a hinged domed lid with a pointed finial and a scrolling handle. The lot contains two cast brass trivets: one circular with a pierced geometric floral motif and another with a stylized animal figure within a scrolled border. Further brass items include a figural bell depicting a lady in traditional dress, a small hand bell with a turned handle, and a decorative horseshoe ornament with a pierced handle. The collection also includes a set of heavy-duty kitchen scales with a black-painted cast iron base and an oval black-finished metal pan. Partially visible items include a silver-plated or pewter teapot with a wooden handle, a silver-plated tray, and a cut-glass bowl. No maker’s marks or hallmarks are visible.
Condition report:
Items generally exhibit signs of age and previous use. The brassware shows a polished finish with areas of surface tarnish and oxidation, particularly in recessed details and on the figural bell. The cast iron components show minor surface wear and loss to the black finish. Wooden components are intact. All items bear contemporary adhesive auction labels. No significant structural damage is apparent.
