A collection of antique dominoes featuring a traditional two-part construction. Each tile comprises a cream-coloured face, riveted to composition back with a central brass pin. The pips are incised and filled with dark pigment. The pieces are contained within a worn, rectangular dark card or leatherboard box. The lid flap features a white printed label with the number 12, which is partially covered by a fluorescent orange adhesive sticker with the handwritten number 59. A faint handwritten mark in blue ink is visible on the interior of the box lid. No maker’s marks, patent dates, or country of origin markings are present.
Condition report:
The dominoes show signs of heavy use, including surface wear, age-related patina, and minor discolouration to the faces. The storage box is in poor condition, exhibiting significant fraying, structural wear, and splitting at the corners and seams.
