APRIL AUCTION

Lot 48: A Trio of Decorative Pressed Glassware in the Style of Cut Crystal

The auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A trio of decorative pressed glass items featuring patterns designed to imitate the appearance of hand-cut crystal. The assembly includes a large circular serving bowl with a deeply moulded design, featuring a centre starburst motif from which geometric facets radiate towards a scalloped and serrated rim. The exterior of the bowl is finished with a hobnail-style texture. Accompanying the bowl is a small glass jug or creamer with similar faceted decoration and a starburst pattern to the base. Also included is a small cylindrical beaker or glass featuring vertical ribbing around the exterior. The glass exhibits good clarity without visible internal cloudiness or glass sickness. These pieces are characteristic of mid-20th-century mass-produced glassware, resembling patterns such as Wexford by Anchor Hocking or designs by British manufacturers like Sowerby. No permanent maker’s marks or acid-etched signatures are visible on any of the items. Temporary orange and white stickers with numerical annotations are present on the surfaces.

Condition report:

The items appear to be in good overall condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, or significant abrasions to the rims or decorated surfaces from the provided perspective. Minor surface dust and shelf wear consistent with age are present.
