Lot 385: Three Decorative Contemporary Metal Advertising-Style Wall Signs
A trio of contemporary decorative metal signs designed in a vintage advertising style. The lot includes a rectangular cream-coloured Coffee Menu sign with an intentional distressed finish, featuring a central illustration of a coffee grinder and diagrams for twelve coffee preparations: Espresso, Doppio, Ristretto, Lungo, Macchiato, Flat White, Cappuccino, Cafe Latte, Mocha, Viennois, Breve, and Mocha Breve. The second sign is a lithographed advertisement for Bird’s Crystal Jelly Powder, depicting Victorian-style children gathered around a large yellow jelly mould with the slogan Dissolves Instantly. This sign is in the style of those produced by The Original Metal Sign Company. The third sign is an embossed red metal plaque featuring the text Drink Good Beer with Good Friends in white and black lettering, accompanied by a graphic of a frothy beer mug. Each sign is constructed from lightweight sheet metal or tin and features pre-drilled mounting holes in the corners.
Condition report:
The signs are in generally good condition. The Coffee Menu sign features intentional faux-distressing, including printed rust spots and aged yellowing. The Bird\'s Crystal Jelly sign shows some light surface scuffing and minor oxidation around the mounting holes. The Beer sign has minor surface scratches and small areas of wear and light oxidation along the rolled edges.
