Lot 373: A Collection of Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern Glass Light Shades
A collection of four glass light shades consisting of two fly-catcher style ceiling shades and a pair of wall sconce shades. The first fly-catcher shade is of shallow bowl form in marbled glass with white, grey, and brown veining, fitted with three metal suspension hooks and a hanging chain. The second fly-catcher shade features a mottled white cloud-effect glass with a broad horizontal orange band near the base, complete with three metal hooks and a central plastic lamp holder with associated electrical cord. The pair of wall sconce shades are of square convex form with rounded corners, featuring a pale green crackle-pattern ground decorated with an atomic style confetti pattern of yellow, orange, and green triangles, each fitted with a ribbed brass mount. All items bear orange adhesive stickers with the handwritten number 373, and one wall shade has a white label printed 24 24. There are no manufacturer marks or signatures present.
Condition report:
The shades appear to be in good vintage condition with no visible chips or cracks to the glass. Some surface wear and oxidation are present on the metal suspension hooks and brass mounts consistent with age. One shade includes vintage wiring and a lamp holder. All electrical components are sold as decorative items only; they have not been tested and must be professionally inspected and rewired by a qualified electrician prior to installation and use.
