Lot 360: Rush-Seated Bobbin-Turned Oak Footstool
A vernacular footstool constructed from dark-stained hardwood, likely oak. The piece features four bobbin-turned legs joined by turned stretchers. The upper side stretchers repeat the bobbin-turning motif, while the lower front and back stretchers are plain, straight-turned rails. The rectangular seat is upholstered in woven rush, arranged in a traditional four-section envelope pattern meeting at a central point. No maker marks or stamps are visible on the frame. A small orange rectangular sticker with the handwritten digits 360 is adhered to one leg.
Condition report:
The stool is in good overall condition. The wooden frame shows minor surface scuffs, abrasions, and light wear to the dark stain, consistent with age and typical use. The woven rush seat is well-preserved, remaining taut and free from significant fraying or breaks.
