Lot 321: British School, 20th Century, Study of a Rustic Building with External Staircase
A watercolour and bodycolour painting on paper, depicting a vernacular stone or plaster building with architectural features characteristic of the British Isles. The scene features a prominent external timber staircase leading to a first-floor entrance, alongside multiple chimney stacks with terracotta pots. The work is executed in a realistic illustrative style using a palette of greys, browns, and muted tones. It is housed in a wide off-white card mount and a simple light wood frame under glass. Condition report:
Visible mat burn and toning to the paper support along the inner edges of the mount. General yellowing and potential light fading to the pigments. The frame shows minor surface wear and carries auction lot stickers numbered 21 and 321.
