Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A trio of framed prints comprising two Renaissance reproductions and one nineteenth-century engraving. The first item is a colour reproduction print after Michelangelo (1475-1564) titled The Libyan Sibyl, depicting the figure from the Sistine Chapel ceiling. Identifying text in the lower right margin reads: Michelangelo (1475-1564): The Libyan Sibyl. Fresco Rome, Sistine Chapel Ceiling. The second is a monochrome reproduction after Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) titled The Virgin and Child with Saint Anne and Saint John the Baptist, identified by a typed label on the mount. These two items are presented in matching frames with gilt inner borders and dark wood-effect outer mouldings, set within tan-coloured mounts. The third work is a steel engraving on paper titled FAIR-TIME, after William Mulready, R.A. (1786-1863), engraved by Herbert Bourne (1825-1907). It is inscribed in the plate W. MULREADY, R.A. PAINTER. to the lower left and H. BOURNE, ENGRAVER. to the lower right. This engraving is housed in a gilt frame with a dark grey mount. All three items are protected under glass and bear auction lot labels numbered 322.

Condition report:

The Michelangelo and Leonardo reproductions are in generally good condition with only minor wear to the frames. The Mulready engraving exhibits significant and widespread foxing across the entire paper surface and the surrounding mount. The frames for all three works show light age-related scuffing and wear.
