Lot 203: Royal Crown Derby Goldcrest Porcelain Bird Paperweight
A Royal Crown Derby fine bone china paperweight in the form of a Goldcrest bird. The figurine is decorated in a stylized Imari pattern using cobalt blue and iron-red overglaze enamels, highlighted with extensive hand-applied gilding. The design features geometric and feather-inspired motifs across the wings, head, and tail. The base is fitted with a circular gold-toned metal stopper embossed with the Royal Crown Derby crown cypher and the text Royal Crown Derby English Bone China. A hand-painted red mark to the base reads LX, which is the Royal Crown Derby date code for 1997. A small, indistinct blue mark is also present on the underside.
Condition report:
The item is in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. There is some minor surface residue and light staining on the porcelain base surrounding the metal stopper. An orange adhesive auction lot sticker is currently attached to the side of the figurine.
