Lot 180: A Collection of Contemporary Decorative Egyptian Papyrus Paintings
An assortment of contemporary decorative artworks on papyrus featuring traditional ancient Egyptian iconography. The collection includes a large horizontal scene depicting a procession of deities and figures accompanied by columns of hieroglyphs. Also present is a circular work based on the Dendera Zodiac, featuring figures surrounding a central blue disc and inscribed with the word LIBRA, the corresponding astrological symbol, and numerical notations A-9, 23-10, and 24-9. The papyrus supports show characteristic horizontal and vertical fibre patterns and irregular deckled edges. Several pieces are mounted with white mounts in black frames, while others are loose or mounted on cardstock. These items are typical of modern souvenir pieces produced for the decorative market.

The collection is in generally fair to good condition. The papyrus supports exhibit minor fraying and irregularities to the deckled edges, which is inherent to the material. Some light surface wear and dust are present on the frames and glass consistent with storage.
