A representational landscape watercolour on paper by the British artist T. Leslie Hawkes. The scene depicts a tranquil coastal or lakeside view, featuring a central rocky formation set against a calm body of water. Small buildings and trees are visible along the distant shoreline. The sky occupies a large portion of the composition, rendered with soft blue washes and light cloud formations. The work is signed and dated T. Leslie Hawkes ’91 in the corner. Notably, the painting is currently mounted upside down within its frame. The artwork is set within a black card mount and a light-coloured wooden frame with a lime-washed finish. An orange sticker with the number 173 and a small white lot tag numbered 4 are attached to the upper left corner of the frame.
Condition report:
The watercolour appears to be in generally good condition. There is mild toning to the paper commensurate with age, but no evidence of foxing, damp damage, or significant light-induced fading. The frame and glazing are intact, showing only minor surface scuffing to the wood. The painting is incorrectly oriented within the mount.
