Lot 174: William Henry Dewhurst (British, 1912-1980), Birkrigg, watercolour
This original watercolour on paper depicts a rural landscape at Birkrigg in Cumbria, executed by the British artist William Henry Dewhurst. The composition features a traditional dry stone wall with an integrated timber gate and a prominent tree with autumnal foliage. The artist has employed a muted colour palette consisting primarily of ochres, greys, and blues to render the undulating terrain. The wooden frame has some minor surface scuffs and abrasions consistent with age.
