This lot comprises two items of British art pottery. The first is a Royal Doulton glazed earthenware motto jug of baluster form with a wide neck, pinched pouring spout, and a decorated loop handle. The exterior decoration features stylised foliage and seed pods in olive green on a cream ground, reflecting an Arts and Crafts influence. The interior rim is inscribed with the motto MORE THAN ENOUGH. The base is marked with a printed circular Royal Doulton backstamp featuring a crown and lion device above the word ENGLAND. It is further printed with the text U.S. PATENT JUNE 5TH 1906. Hand-painted marks in green glaze are present, appearing as the letter J and the numbers 1858. The second item is a small cylindrical bowl featuring a deep red oxblood flambé glaze on the exterior with mottled yellow and green highlights. The interior has a contrasting pale buff-coloured glaze with fine red spotting. No maker mark is visible on the bowl.
Condition report:
The Royal Doulton jug is in good overall condition with minor surface wear and light staining to the interior consistent with age. No chips, cracks, or repairs are visible. The flambé bowl appears to be in good condition with no visible damage.
