A Pair of Mason's Ironstone Bowls in the Mandalay Pattern
A pair of Mason’s Ironstone earthenware bowls decorated in the Mandalay pattern. The circular bowls feature an Imari-inspired floral design across the exterior, utilising a palette of cobalt blue, iron red, and ochre with gilded highlights. The decoration is achieved through a combination of transfer-printing and hand-painted finishing. Each base displays a reddish-brown printed mark featuring a crown above the name MASONS, with a banner below containing the text IRONSTONE MADE IN ENGLAND. The pattern name Mandalay is printed beneath the banner. One bowl bears additional hand-painted marks in red reading PA and 101, while the other features a small hand-painted mark 84.
Both items appear to be in good condition based on the visual inspection of the bases and visible exterior profiles. There are no apparent chips, cracks, or visible repairs. The glaze remains bright and clear across the visible surfaces.
