March timed auction
Lot 47:
This collection of decorative ceramics includes items attributed to British and European manufacturers of the late 19th and 20th centuries. A notable component is a small rectangular dish in the Mason’s Ironstone Mandalay pattern, featuring a characteristic Imari palette of underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze iron red, and gold highlights with scrolling floral designs. The lot also contains a larger rectangular dish with a scalloped, gilded rim and a transfer-printed yellow iris to the centre. A twin-handled porcelain bowl of bulbous form is decorated with a graduated cream-to-yellow ground and hand-painted polychrome floral sprays, finished with gilded scroll handles. A small square porcelain dish features a faint landscape scene and two applied porcelain floral ornaments. The collection is completed by a cylindrical porcelain mug with polychrome floral sprays and a gilded handle. No factory marks are visible on the displayed surfaces.
The twin-handled bowl exhibits a large and visible star crack to the interior base. The other items in the collection appear in generally fair condition with minor surface wear and rubbing to the gilded highlights consistent with age.
