Lot 457: A Pair of 20th-Century Jacobethan Style Side Chairs
A pair of 20th-century side chairs in the Jacobethan revival style, constructed from dark-stained wood, possibly oak or beech. Each chair features a decorative backrest with a scrolled top rail positioned above three turned spindles, flanked by uprights with turned finials. The chairs are supported by bobbin-turned front legs and a matching H-form stretcher. The fixed, padded seats are upholstered in a dusty rose-coloured cut velvet damask jacquard fabric featuring a classical foliate and scrolled pattern in cream and gold tones. No maker’s marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the frames or upholstery. The items are identified by handwritten auction lot tags reading 20 1/2 and 20 2/2.
Condition report:
The chairs appear to be in good, used condition with minor surface wear and scuffs consistent with age and use. No significant damage to the frames or upholstery is immediately visible.
