Lot 455a: A mid-20th-century Jacobean revival dark oak side cabinet
A single-piece oak side cabinet or cupboard, possibly intended as a music or record cabinet, constructed in the Jacobean revival style with a dark stained finish. The unit features a hinged lift-top opening to an upper storage compartment. Below the top section are two cupboard doors with recessed panelling and moulded frames. The base section is configured with a single panelled door to the right and an open storage recess to the left. The doors are fitted with turned wooden pull knobs and simple metal pin hinges. The construction is characteristic of mid-20th-century British reproduction furniture. No manufacturer marks are present; the top surface bears a small white rectangular sticker with the number 25 and an orange identification sticker.
Condition report:
The cabinet shows signs of age-related wear and surface marks. Scratches and abrasions are visible on the top surface and edges. Dust and debris are present in the recesses. The finish shows some fading and unevenness consistent with use.
