March timed auction
Lot 170:
An assortment of cricket scorebooks and handwritten scoring records documenting international Test matches and professional fixtures. The collection includes a light blue Bourne’s Empire Cricket Scoring Book, a commemorative edition for the centenary 1877–1977, produced by W. Bourne and Co. Ltd., London. The records contain detailed, over-by-over handwritten scoring. A prominent entry documents the 5th Test between England and Pakistan played at The Oval starting on 6th August 1987, recording the performances of players including Ian Botham, Graham Dilley, Mike Gatting, Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, and Javed Miandad. The collection also features a 1991 Indian team record on a sheet attributed to Thomas Rex Impex, listing a lineup that includes Sachin Tendulkar and Anil Kumble. The records provide comprehensive bowling analysis, fall of wickets, and individual run tallies. The items are housed in a cardboard box bearing a lot sticker numbered 170.
The items show signs of use consistent with being used outdoors at cricket grounds. Visible wear includes light staining to the covers and internal pages, edge wear to the bindings, and some creasing to the loose sheets. The paper shows natural age-related toning.
