A large, bulbous circular earthenware vessel, likely a jardinière, in the style of 20th-century English decorative makers such as Carlton Ware or Crown Devon. The piece features a wide opening and a flat, unglazed top rim. The exterior is decorated with a vibrant sky-blue ground and a decorative reserve panel. This panel displays a cream background with repeating geometric patterns and stylised floral motifs in orange, white, and black, bordered by a dark navy band with gold-tone foliate scrollwork. The decoration reflects Chinoiserie influences and appears to be transfer-printed with possible hand-painted or gilded accents. The interior is finished with a cream glaze. No maker’s marks are visible on the exterior or the top rim. Two adhesive auction labels are present on the exterior.
Condition report:
The cream-glazed interior shows surface pitting and a single brown stain at the bottom. The unglazed top rim has general surface discolouration and a small dark mark. The exterior glaze appears to be in good condition without significant visible chips or cracks.
