A Pair of Mid-20th Century Brass Shade Carriers
A pair of brass fittings, identified as lamp shade carriers or candle shade adapters. Each item is constructed from formed brass components joined by soldering. The design consists of a small cylindrical socket with a flared rim, supported by two wire-form struts that attach to a larger circular base ring. These fittings are designed to sit over a lighting fixture or candle holder to support a shade. No maker’s marks or manufacturer stamps are visible on the metal surfaces. One item retains two adhesive inventory labels, one white with the digit 8 and one orange with the handwritten digit 9.
The items exhibit a natural aged patina with surface tarnish and light scratches throughout. There is significant green verdigris corrosion present within the interior of both cylindrical sockets.
