Lot 77: A Collection of Johnson Brothers Indian Tree Pattern Earthenware Tableware
This collection of earthenware tableware is produced by Johnson Brothers in the Indian Tree pattern. The set comprises various forms including dinner plates, side plates in multiple sizes, teacups, matching saucers, a bowl, and a cream jug. The decoration consists of multi-colour transfer-printed stylised flowering branches and foliate borders in a palette of pink, green, and blue on a cream ground. The base of the bowl features a printed backstamp with a crown symbol, the text Johnson Bros and England, and the pattern name Indian Tree. A hand-painted green mark in the form of a numeral 7 is also visible on the base. The items are presented within a cardboard box with bubble wrap packaging.
Condition report:
Visible damage includes a significant chip to the rim of the uppermost large plate. The remaining items show signs of light use and surface wear consistent with age. A full inspection for hairline cracks or minor chips to the remaining pieces is recommended.
