Lot 563: Morestone Series Royal State Coronation Coach and Horses
A vintage Morestone Series miniature model representing the British Gold State Coach, produced in England to commemorate the 1953 Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. The model is constructed from die-cast metal and features a silver-toned coach drawn by a team of eight horses arranged in four pairs. The horses are connected by a central shaft which bears the raised cast lettering MORESTONE SERIES MADE IN ENGLAND. Four postilion riders are depicted on the near-side horses. The coach is detailed with ornate casting including roof lanterns and crown motifs, and is mounted on four rotating spoked wheels.
Condition report:
The model is in played-with condition. The paintwork on the horse team and postilion riders shows significant wear with heavy chipping and loss to the white, red, and gold-coloured finishes. The silver-coloured finish on the coach remains largely intact but exhibits surface dulling and minor oxidation consistent with age. All wheels are present. No original packaging is included.
