Lot 512: A Mid-20th Century French Provincial Style Painted Wood Bed Frame
A mid-20th-century bed frame in the French Provincial or Rococo Revival style. The set is constructed from painted wood and comprises a headboard, a matching footboard, and two side rails. Both the headboard and footboard feature moulded panels and serpentine top rails with central foliate carved crests. The headboard is further decorated with a central hand-painted floral spray depicting roses and wildflowers in shades of pink, yellow, and green. The frame is finished in a distressed cream paint. The footboard is supported by short cabriole legs. The proportions are consistent with a standard double or king-size mattress.
Condition report:
The bed frame is currently disassembled. The painted finish shows signs of age and use, including scuffs, surface scratches, and light soiling consistent with a distressed aesthetic. There are small orange inventory stickers attached to both the headboard and footboard. Minor chipping to the paint is present along the edges and feet. The structural integrity appears sound at the joinery points. Overall in fair used condition.
