Lot 48: A Pair of Graduated White Glazed Ceramic Duck Planters
A pair of graduated ceramic planters moulded as ducks. Each piece is constructed from glazed ceramic with a hollow body and an aperture to the back for use as a planter. The ducks are depicted with heads turned to the side and feature moulded feather textures throughout the body. The decoration consists of a white glaze with hand-painted peach-coloured beaks and feet, and dark-painted eyes. While no factory or maker marks are visible on the exterior surfaces, similar examples are sometimes attributed to makers such as Holland Floral. Orange adhesive labels with handwritten digits are present on the wings. These items are characteristic of mid-20th-century decorative animal-form planters common in the United Kingdom and Europe.
Condition report:
The items are in good overall condition. There is visible surface dirt and residue within the planting apertures from previous use. Adhesive labels are attached to the exterior wings. No major chips, cracks, or repairs are visible from the top-down perspective provided.
