Lot 428: An Assortment of Sheffield EPNS Flatware and Cutlery within Two Wooden Canteen Cases
An assortment of mixed electroplated nickel silver (EPNS) flatware and cutlery, housed within two tiered wooden canteen cases. The cases feature curved fronts and moulded edges; the upper case is constructed from a light-coloured wood, possibly oak, while the lower case has a dark stained finish. The interior of one case is lined with red textile and contains various loose items including forks, knives, and spoons. Several pieces feature cream-coloured handles. Markings observed on various pieces include EPNS, Sheffield, and Made in England. The collection is a mismatched group of various patterns and styles.
Condition report:
The wooden cases show visible surface wear, including scratches, scuffs, and areas of finish loss. The cutlery and flatware are in a used condition, exhibiting general tarnishing and signs of wear consistent with age and use. The interior textile lining shows some wear and indentation from the loose contents.
