Lot 424: A contemporary composite figurine of a polar bear and cubs attributed to United Design Animal Classics
This decorative figurine, attributed to the United Design Animal Classics range, depicts a mother polar bear with two cubs. The piece is rendered in a stylised manner with a faceted, chip-carved surface texture throughout. The group features an adult polar bear in a recumbent position with two cubs nestled against her. It is constructed from a moulded composite material, likely hydrostone, finished in a uniform matt white to simulate the appearance of carved stone. No factory marks, artist signatures, or model numbers are visible on the body of the item. An orange adhesive sticker is present on the back of the adult bear with the handwritten numerals 424.
Condition report:
The figurine is in generally good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. There is a small area of faint reddish surface discolouration on the back of the head of the central cub. The orange adhesive sticker may leave a residue upon removal.
