The auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A Second World War Clinometer, Vickers .303 in. M.G., Mark II, manufactured by the United States Case Co. in 1944. This precision instrument features a heavy metal body finished in original olive drab and black paint. It is fitted with a spirit level housed in a protective metal casing on a pivoting arc. The elevation is adjusted via two knurled brass dials with stamped numerical graduations from 0 to 50. The base is precision-ground for mounting on the gun side plate or a dedicated clinometer block. Markings include CLINOMETER VICKERS .303 IN. M.G. MK II on the silver-toned section. The dark green plate is stamped with the date 1944, serial number No. 2261, and code V.E. 0067. The manufacturer mark USC is visible within a circle, and a British War Department broad arrow or pheon symbol is stamped on the central pivot bracket.

Condition report:

The clinometer is in good service-used condition. There is significant paint loss and wear on the high points of the body and the spirit level housing, consistent with field use. The spirit level vial remains intact and functional. The brass adjustment knobs rotate freely and the knurled surfaces remain sharp. All markings are clear and deeply struck. No significant corrosion is present, with only a light age-related patina to the exposed metal
