Lot 379: A Rustic Circular Wooden Barrel Lid
A circular wooden lid of rustic, utilitarian construction, likely intended for a large barrel or storage container. The piece is composed of several vertical wooden planks held together by two horizontal battens. A central vertical handle or reinforcing piece is secured across the battens with flush-mounted metal fasteners. The wood is unfinished and displays natural grain patterns and knots. A small white adhesive label is affixed to the upper section, printed with the numerals 1717.
Condition report:
The item shows significant signs of age and weathering consistent with its functional history. There is widespread dark surface staining and spotting across the timber. The wood remains structurally intact but exhibits a worn, aged patina.
