Lot 374: I.C. Butler, A Pair of Ornithological Colour Prints
A pair of ornithological colour prints by I.C. Butler, depicting a jay and a kingfisher. The upper print depicts a jay perched on a branch with pine cones, while the lower print shows a kingfisher on a branch with green leaves. Both works are likely lithographs and are mounted on grey card. The upper print is inscribed I.C. Butler ’53 with the numeral 280 in the right margin and the initials I.C.B. in the upper right corner. The lower print is inscribed I.C. Butler in the upper right corner. The prints are housed within a green cloth-bound portfolio folder. The interior lining of the folder features a small red circular label reading A Kimberley Product.
Condition report:
The prints appear generally clean with minor toning consistent with age. The interior lining of the portfolio folder exhibits significant foxing and moisture spotting throughout. The grey card mounts show minor wear to the edges.
