Lot 358: Frank Moss Bennett (British, 1874-1952), Vernon Ward (British, 1905-1985), and Others, A Collection of Framed Prints and Works on Paper (Signed)
This collection of framed artworks includes several prints and works on paper or board depicting traditional and botanical subjects. A primary work in the group is a portrait of two children with a small animal, signed F. M. BENNETT in the upper right, presented in an ornate gilt-composition frame. Also included is a print by Vernon Ward titled A MORNING ADJOURNMENT, depicting a traditional inn scene with figures and horses, bearing the artist’s printed mark and housed in a dark wooden frame with a fabric-textured mount. The collection further comprises a floral still life of white flowers in a modern gold-toned frame, a small study of white orchids, and a monochromatic print of sheep in a rural landscape. The works are variously executed on paper or board and are predominantly protected under glass within wooden or composite frames.
Condition report:
The collection appears to be in overall good condition. The frames exhibit minor surface wear, light scuffing, and dust accumulation consistent with age and handling. Several frames retain adhesive auction labels with numbers such as 358 and 8 8. The artworks have not been inspected out of their frames, but those under glass appear well-preserved.
