Lot 306: A pair of vintage Asahi Pentax prism binoculars with carrying case
A pair of prism binoculars by Asahi Pentax. The instrument features a metal body with a textured black synthetic or leatherette covering and is fitted with a black synthetic neck strap. The shoulder of the binoculars is printed with the maker name ASAHI PENTAX in white. The right eyepiece features a diopter adjustment ring with a numerical scale, and there is a central focusing wheel. The binoculars are accompanied by two black plastic eyepiece caps, also bearing the moulded ASAHI PENTAX mark. The set includes a fitted, hard-sided carrying case constructed from a rigid material with a black textured exterior and a fuchsia-pink velvet-effect fabric lining. The case is secured with a metal stud closure.
Condition report:
The binoculars and case appear to be in good used condition with minor surface marks and dust consistent with age. The optical clarity and mechanical functions, including the focusing mechanism and hinge movement, have not been tested.
