Lot 305: A pair of Japanese Plus 12x50 prismatic binoculars
A pair of Japanese prismatic binoculars by Plus. The instrument features a black textured body with metal fittings and is equipped with a light tan leather neck strap. The left prism plate is marked with the stylized block letters PLUS, COATED OPTICS, and PRISMATIC. The right prism plate is marked with a logo of two stylized peaks above 12 X 50, Field 5 degrees, NBT-54889, and made in Japan. The binoculars are a 12×50 model, indicating 12x magnification with 50mm objective lenses. The instrument includes a central focusing wheel and a right-eye dioptre adjustment. The item is accompanied by its original tan-coloured, hard-sided carrying case featuring a red plush-lined interior and a coordinating tan shoulder strap. A small circular sticker is present on the interior of the case lid with the red printed text PASSED.
Condition report:
The binoculars are in good used condition. The external lenses are complete and show no obvious chips or cracks, though some light surface dust is present. The mechanical central focusing wheel and right-eye dioptre adjustment are functional. The carrying case shows some minor external surface marks and scuffing consistent with age and use, but the interior lining remains clean and the structural integrity is good. The leather straps for both the instrument and the case appear supple and intact. Optical clarity has not been professionally tested but appears clear upon visual inspection.
