An Edwardian-style mantel clock featuring a mahogany case with an arched top. The case is decorated with inlaid boxwood stringing and marquetry, including a central shell motif within an oval reserve and fan motifs in the upper corners. The circular white dial is set within a brass bezel behind a glass cover, featuring black Roman numerals and an outer minute track with Arabic numerals at 15, 30, 45, and 60. The dial has two winding apertures, indicating a mechanical striking movement. The clock is supported by a stepped rectangular base. No maker marks are visible on the dial or the front of the case. A small adhesive label with the number 23 is present on the left side of the case.
Condition report:
The mahogany case shows minor age-related wear and scuffing, particularly around the base. The dial surface exhibits staining and loss of finish, notably around the centre and winding apertures. The hands are present but show signs of oxidation. The mechanical movement is untested and the working order is unknown.
