March sale
Lot 26:
A collection of Chinese and Japanese style ceramics and miscellaneous household items. The group includes a large circular charger with hand-painted floral and foliate decoration in the famille rose palette on a celadon ground. Blue and white porcelain items, resembling Meiji period and Chinese export wares, comprise a bowl in the Willow pattern, several lids with figural finials, and vessels with avian and botanical motifs. Further ceramic pieces include a turquoise glazed globular vase, a blue-glazed foo dog figure, and various pitchers and bottles in polychrome and transfer-printed designs, including Kutani-style and Canton-style wares. The lot also contains an orange plastic vintage-style flashlight, a wooden barrel-form container, a small turned wood vessel, and a boxed ZX 600 digital scale. No maker’s marks are clearly visible on the bases of the items.
The collection exhibits varying degrees of wear consistent with age and use. A visible chip is present on the rim of an orange and white glazed bottle. General surface scratches, minor glaze losses, and firing imperfections are noted across the ceramic items. Electronic and wooden components show signs of handling and age.
