Lot 242: A Trio of Chinese Shiwan Style Glazed and Unglazed Ceramic Mudman Figurines
A trio of ceramic figurines in the style of Chinese Shiwan mudman pottery, featuring a combination of glazed and unglazed finishes. The first figure depicts a seated, bare-chested man with a blue shawl accompanied by a small child, both looking at a white cloth or scroll held in the man’s hands, positioned on a textured rock-like base. The second figure represents an elderly man with a long white beard and moustache, wearing a light green glazed tunic and brown shorts, leaning forward in a dynamic pointing pose with a conical hat and a small jar strapped to his back. The third figure depicts a woman in a large straw-style hat and light blue tunic tending to a yellow washbasin atop a green brick-patterned pedestal, with two white-glazed ducks at the base. No factory marks or maker’s marks are visible on the exterior of the bodies. The items bear temporary auction house inventory stickers numbered 11 and 242.
Condition report:
The collection shows surface dust throughout consistent with age. The figure of the man and child exhibits areas of white residue or minor paint loss on the man\'s leg and the child\'s clothing. The remaining two figures appear to be in generally good condition.
