Lot 213: A Collection of Southwest Style Geometric Rugs
A collection of rugs featuring Southwest and Navajo-inspired geometric designs. The prominent rug, marked with lot sticker 213, features a muted sage-green central field decorated with two vertically aligned stepped diamond medallions in tan and cream. These medallions contain stylised motifs resembling thunderbirds or arrows. The central field is flanked by broad vertical borders with a navy-blue ground, displaying repeating geometric patterns and stylised zoomorphic or humanoid figures in contrasting cream and tan. The rug is constructed from a wool or wool-blend yarn with a short, dense pile. The high-density, regular weave is characteristic of modern commercial machine-made production. Other rugs in the collection, including the piece marked with lot sticker 214, exhibit similar geometric motifs and flatweave constructions. No maker marks or labels are visible on the face of the items.
