Lot 206: A Large Rectangular Woven Rattan Storage Basket with Hinged Lid
A large rectangular storage basket or picnic hamper constructed from woven natural rattan. The design features a hinged lid and is fitted with two circular woven ring handles attached to the top edge, alongside a central longitudinal carry handle. The construction utilizes traditional weaving techniques with a reinforced rim. No permanent maker’s marks or manufacturer labels are discernible on the exterior. The item currently bears a small yellow adhesive sticker with the handwritten digits 206 and a small white printed sticker with the digits 88.
Condition report:
The basket appears in good overall condition. There is evidence of light surface wear and an accumulation of dust within the weave consistent with age and domestic use. The woven structure remains largely intact with no significant breaks or losses visible.
