March sale
Lot 15:
A collection of ceramic wares comprising commemorative mugs, teacups, saucers, and decorative items. The lot includes three commemorative mugs: one porcelain example for the Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth dated 12th May 1937 featuring transfer-printed portraits and heraldic motifs; one fine bone china mug for the 1977 Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II with portraits of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh; and one porcelain mug with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II within a decorative cartouche.
The teaware includes a fine bone china teacup and saucer set with fluted rims and pink floral sprays, alongside assorted floral-decorated cups and saucers. One notable cup features a multi-coloured floral pattern on a white ground with a yellow-bordered saucer. The base of one inverted cup is marked BONE CHINA, MADE IN ENGLAND, and MICROWAVE SAFE.
Decorative items include a cream-coloured milk jug and matching small bowl featuring a molded basketweave texture and green shamrock motifs, with the jug featuring a brown-glazed twig-style handle in the style of Belleek. The collection is completed by two lidded trinket boxes: one heart-shaped with a floral transfer lid and one circular with applied three-dimensional ceramic floral decoration. Decoration techniques include transfer-printing, gilded accents, and hand-painted elements on the shamrock and 3D floral items.
The items are in good used condition. Minor wear is visible to the gilded rims on several pieces, consistent with age and use. No significant chips, cracks, or visible repairs are noted from the primary viewing angle. Potential bidders are advised to inspect for hairline cracks in the fine bone china pieces.
