A collection of antique metric balance scale weights housed in a hinged wooden presentation case. The set comprises several cylindrical brass weights with knob tops and various small sheet-metal fractional weights. The brass weights are stamped with numerical denominations followed by the abbreviation grm for grammes, including visible values of 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, and 10. The wooden case features a blue felt-lined interior with recessed slots for individual weights and a separate compartment for fractional pieces.
Condition report:
The set is incomplete with several vacant slots in the wooden case. The brass weights exhibit a heavy patina, surface oxidisation, and signs of use. The wooden case shows significant age-related wear, including scratches, scuffs, and a worn finish. The interior felt lining shows fading and wear consistent with age.
