Lot 268: A George V Sterling Silver Mounted Cut Crystal Biscuit Jar
A lidded biscuit barrel or sweet jar, featuring a clear, cut glass body with a multi-faceted design. The upper half of the glass body displays radiating fan cuts, transitioning to a diamond or hobnail pattern on the lower half. The lid and pivoting bail handle are crafted from sterling silver, as indicated by visible hallmarks including a clear lion passant, along with the maker’s mark “C.W.F”. The lid is topped with a dark finial, possibly bakelite or wood. An orange sticker bearing the number “268” is adhered to the lid.
